Elizabeth Martin, PhD
Who Am I?
Dr. Martin is a North Carolina native who has been licensed to practice psychology and certified as a Health Services Provider by the NC Psychology Board since 2010. Dr. Martin obtained her BA in Psychology from Wake Forest University and her MA in General/Experimental Psychology from the College of William & Mary. In 2007, Dr. Martin graduated from UNC at Greensboro with her PhD in Clinical Psychology. Dr. Martin is also a member of the NC Psychological Association.
With almost 20 years of experience working with children and families, Dr. Martin has expertise assessing and treating school-aged children, adolescents, and adults experiencing a variety of difficulties. Her specialty areas include ADHD, ODD, behavioral concerns, anxiety, mood disorders, grief and loss, anger management, and adjustment disorders. In addition, for the past several years, Dr. Martin has aided many military families cope with challenges unique to this population.
Dr. Martin uses an eclectic approach in her therapy strategies when working with clients via individual and family therapy. Drawing techniques primarily from cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, and family systems therapy, Dr. Martin works collaboratively with clients to tailor treatment that best meets their needs. With younger child clients, Dr. Martin also often employs play therapy as well as parent training.
Dr. Martin is a strong supporter of aiding clients to develop coping skills to live fuller, healthier, and happier lives. Creating a caring and empathetic therapy environment allows clients to have a solid foundation while working comfortably and successfully toward making changes, allowing growth, and meeting personal and life goals.
